Education Foundation Dual Credit Scholarships

In 2008, the Education Foundation for Waxahachie ISD implemented dual credit scholarships for Waxahachie High School students who wanted to begin their college careers early, but needed the assistance of a scholarship. Dual credit allows students to get a jump-start on their college careers while still enrolled in high school. These courses enable students to obtain both high school and college credit at the same time. Dual credit classes offered at Waxahachie High School include English, History, Mathematics, and Science, among others. Students must adhere to collegiate standards and rigor and must obtain a passing grade of “C” or higher to obtain college credit. Waxahachie High School’s collegiate partner is Navarro College and students complete their classes with college credit on a Navarro College transcript along with high school credit on a Waxahachie High School transcript.

Recipients are awarded dual credit scholarships via an application process that begins each spring. The applications are then reviewed by the Education Foundation scholarship committee and recipients are notified during the summer of their award if chosen. Since 2008, the Education Foundation for Waxahachie ISD has awarded more than $100,000 in dual credit scholarships to WHS students.
